An Open Letter to Donald J. Trump: The Balloon of Ego, the Collapse of Decency, and the End of a Nation
Leadership flows from the heart—not from a microphone, not from a slogan, and certainly not from the stage of a reality show. A true leader carries a heart free from racism, free from arrogance, free from the delusion that cruelty equals strength. You, Mr. President, have been watched. For four years, I observed you, offered you my guidance, sent you open letters, extended to you the best of my thinking—free of charge and full of hope. You did not listen. You did not respond. You chose ego over humility, spectacle over substance.
I have deleted my blog. The blog that carried words meant to shape your better self. It expired. And so did my association with you. You’re on your own now. No more advice. No more praise. No more letters. You were once a man I tried to help. Now you’re just a man I warn the world about.
You are the one who removed Jerusalem from a legacy of peace and pluralism, who dismantled a fragile peace process for a photo op, and who empowered war criminals to continue their rampage in Gaza. You were impatient when peace required patience. You were deaf when diplomacy required listening. You jumped into bed with genocide, and for that, you will be remembered—not as a builder, but as a bulldozer of justice and honor.
You say you're trying to make America great again. But what you're making is a reality show built on fear, paranoia, and historical amnesia. You are not the president of ideas or unity. You are the host of a chaos marathon, a nightmare that never ends.
You are attacking American colleges. You are threatening citizenship. You are stirring the demons of segregation. You’ve turned America into a haunted house of fear, where immigrants are deporting themselves and Muslims are disappearing from your policy circles. Not one Muslim advisor. Not one dignified inclusion. You’ve erased every trace of decency, and replaced it with applause from those who cheer for cruelty.
You have failed America by becoming its greatest enemy from within. You’ve unleashed an ego so inflated it detached from reality. You are a balloon of arrogance hovering over a land that’s burning beneath you. You are a walking contradiction—demanding loyalty while betraying your allies, promising strength while projecting insecurity.
I don’t hate you. But I will not honor you with a blog. I will not place your name beside kings, scholars, or saints. You are not worthy of that dignity.
You work hard—I’ll give you that. Harder than perhaps most presidents before you. But what’s the point of all that energy if your moral compass is broken, if your direction is destruction, if your legacy is humiliation?
You could have been great. But you chose to be loud instead.
You could have been historic. But you chose to be theatrical.
You could have worked for peace. But you chose to be the hammer of war.
You are bombing Yemen. You are unleashing chaos. You are threatening nuclear war. You are the embodiment of what happens when ego meets power and refuses to step aside.
Let me be clear: You are dragging America’s reputation down the steps of the world stage. You are turning the land of the brave into a land of silence, fear, and cowardice. People are afraid to speak. Citizens are unsure of their future. Immigrants are packing. College students are watching their freedoms disappear.
You are not inspiring the world. You are terrifying it.
This is my final letter to you. I regret ever supporting you. I regret ever believing you might grow. But I don’t regret telling you the truth.
Because someone had to.
And if you ever hope to find redemption, it starts with humility. It starts with listening. But I fear that’s a language you do not speak.
So, go ahead. Continue your show. Continue your rallies. Continue your war cries. History will record you. But not as a savior. Not as a reformer. Not as a lion.
You will be recorded as the final nail in the coffin of an America that once believed in freedom for all.
And when I leave this country, if I renounce my citizenship, it won’t be out of hate—it will be out of mourning. For what America could have been. For what you killed with your presidency.
And yet, Mr. President, even after everything I’ve said—every criticism, every disappointment—I have chosen to include you in my writings, in the record of this era. Not because you earned a place through greatness, but because your fall, your noise, your chaos have become part of our collective story—one we cannot ignore, one we must learn from.
You have thrown yourself into a dungeon of your own design. You built it with walls of ego, anger, delusion, and cruelty—brick by brick, tweet by tweet. You once stood at the summit of global influence, and now you wade through the wreckage of the very institutions you promised to restore. You were given a moment in history, and instead of lifting a nation, you chose to parade your vanity through its streets.
Still, I won’t end with hate.
Because I do not know your fate. I do not know whether you will find the courage to reflect, to repent, to walk away before you destroy everything around you—including yourself. But I do know this: I am tired. Tired of listening to your voice dominate the national conversation. Tired of the fear and fatigue your words bring. Tired of wondering if you will ever rise to the occasion. And so, I release myself from that burden. This letter is the end of the road between us.
You will not receive another. Not from me.
I will watch from a distance, not with hope, not with bitterness, but with a simple prayer. A prayer that somehow, in some unseen moment, you may rediscover your humanity. A prayer that someone in your orbit will tell you the truth. A prayer that your next three years do not erase the last breath of credibility this nation still has.
But I will not write to you again. Not because I do not care—but because I have cared too much already.
I suggested to President Putin that he resign, and I suggest the same to you. Walk away. Go back to your golf courses. Find peace in obscurity. Because if you remain in office as you are—angry, closed off, ruled by fear and flattery—America will not be a nation remembered for freedom or courage. It will be remembered as a cautionary tale.
You still have time. But time does not wait.
This is my final letter.
Goodbye, Mr. President. May God do with your heart what you yourself could not.
— Omar Arizona
