WHAT THE OFFICE CAN DO
The State Auditor oversees audits and financial reporting for local governments and performs duties assigned by state law. It is not the same office as Minnesota's Legislative Auditor, and it does not unilaterally prosecute crimes, set every local budget or audit the federal government.
