City ballots may include mayor, council seats and other charter or statutory offices. Powers vary by city form, charter and ward. Candidate evaluation should distinguish what the office can enact, what requires council approval and what belongs to a county, school district, state or federal agency.

The official sample ballot is the safest starting point because city and ward boundaries determine the ballot. A missing filed candidate may leave a write-in choice under applicable law; it must not be converted into a made-up name.

No score or endorsement is assigned. Portraits, finance records, minutes, votes, budgets and candidate answers remain a later layer.
