WHAT THE OFFICE CAN DO
The Attorney General provides legal representation to the state, issues legal opinions where authorized, enforces specified consumer and charitable laws, and brings or defends litigation within state and federal law. The office does not write statutes alone, sentence criminal defendants or replace county prosecutors in every case.
