For all people, all nations, a brighter humanity.](/images/redesign/the-institute-of-truth.jpg) **بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ** **In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.** ♥️🤲🕋♥️🌹🌹🥀🤲🌹🕋♥️ # TO EVERY HUMAN BEING ON EARTH It does not matter what religion you belong to. It does not matter what country you were born in. It does not matter what language you speak, what political party you support, how much money you have, or what position you hold in society. **IF YOU ARE A HUMAN BEING, THE TRUTH BELONGS TO YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.** The truth cannot be bought. The truth cannot be sold. The truth cannot be kidnapped. Not by a government. Not by a king. Not by a president. Not by a billionaire. Not by a religious authority. Not by a corporation. **AND CERTAINLY NOT BY ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.** The truth does not belong to the person who speaks the loudest. It does not belong to the person with the greatest following. It does not belong to the person who owns the newspaper, the television station, the social media platform, or the most powerful computer. **THE TRUTH IS NOT PROPERTY.** It is not a product. It is not a political campaign. It is not something humanity can manufacture through popularity, money, or influence. The truth concerns what is real. What happened. What was said. What was done. What can be established through evidence. And whether the person presenting that evidence is willing to be accountable for it. **THE TRUTH IS AS STRAIGHT AS A MIRROR.** You may dislike what the mirror shows you. You may disagree with the person holding it. You may turn your face away. But turning away does not change what is reflected. And breaking the mirror does not change what happened. **THIS IS THE FOUNDATION UPON WHICH I AM BUILDING THE INSTITUTE OF TRUTH.** Not an institution that manufactures truth. Not an institution that owns truth. Not an institution that appoints itself the ruler of truth. **AN INSTITUTION THAT SERVES THE TRUTH.** And an institution that must itself remain answerable to the truth. ## HUMANITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN TESTED BY THE TRUTH Look at human history. Look at the civilizations that rose and fell. Look at the kings who demanded obedience. Look at the prophets who came with revelation. Look at the people who accepted their message. And look at the people who rejected them. Humanity has fought for the truth. Humanity has fought against the truth. Humanity has sacrificed everything to defend it. And humanity has committed extraordinary acts of injustice to suppress it. **THIS STRUGGLE DID NOT BEGIN WITH JOURNALISM.** **IT DID NOT BEGIN WITH SOCIAL MEDIA.** **AND IT WILL NOT END WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE.** For me, as a Muslim, the history of the prophets is among the greatest testimonies to the human struggle between truth and falsehood. Revelation descended from Allah to His messengers. They called people toward righteousness, justice, accountability, and worship of the Creator. Yet people resisted them. Some resisted because of pride. Some because of wealth. Some because of political authority. Some because they feared losing their position in society. And some simply refused to change. **THE PRESENCE OF TRUTH DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT HUMAN BEINGS WILL ACCEPT IT.** This is one of the most important lessons of history. You can present evidence. You can demonstrate integrity. You can spend a lifetime building a reputation. And still, when the moment of decision arrives, people may choose to stand against you. **THE TRUTH WILL ALWAYS BE TESTED.** Not because two contradictory claims can both be factually correct in the same respect. But because human beings can choose different responses to the truth. One person accepts it. Another rejects it. One person corrects himself. Another protects his reputation. One person sacrifices wealth to defend his principles. Another sacrifices his principles to obtain wealth. **THE FACTS DO NOT CHANGE SIMPLY BECAUSE HUMANITY DIVIDES OVER THEM.** Markdown: https://omararizona.com/redesign/the-institute-of-truth/humanity-tested-by-the-truth.md ## THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم AND THE RECORD OF A TRUTHFUL LIFE Let us examine the life of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم. Before revelation, he lived among his people for approximately forty years. They knew him. They traded with him. They interacted with him. They observed his conduct. They knew his character. And Islamic tradition remembers him as: # الصَّادِقُ الْأَمِينُ ## AL-SADIQ AL-AMIN ### THE TRUTHFUL AND THE TRUSTWORTHY Consider the significance of this. His reputation was not created in one afternoon. It was not purchased through advertising. It was not manufactured by an algorithm. It was not awarded by a television network. **IT WAS BUILT THROUGH A LIFETIME OF HUMAN INTERACTION.** Through words. Through actions. Through responsibilities. Through promises. Through the way he treated people. Through the way he conducted his affairs. And through the trust he established among those who knew him. Then revelation came. And some of the very people who had known his character for decades rejected his message. They accused him of falsehood. They opposed him. They challenged his authority. **FORTY YEARS OF CHARACTER DID NOT PREVENT PEOPLE FROM REJECTING HIM.** Think about that. A man known for truthfulness was suddenly opposed when the truth he proclaimed challenged the interests, beliefs, and authority of those around him. This is not merely a lesson about ancient Arabia. It is a lesson about humanity. **PEOPLE MAY TRUST YOUR CHARACTER UNTIL YOUR WORDS CHALLENGE THEIR POWER.** They may admire your honesty until your honesty threatens their wealth. They may praise your integrity until your integrity requires them to change. And they may celebrate the truth until the truth demands something from them. **THAT IS WHEN CHARACTER IS TESTED.** The Institute of Truth must teach this history. Because truthfulness is not simply what we claim about ourselves. **IT IS WHAT OUR RECORD REVEALS OVER TIME.** Markdown: https://omararizona.com/redesign/the-institute-of-truth/the-record-of-a-truthful-life.md ## THE HADITH OF THE TRUTHFUL AND THE LIAR Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم gave humanity an extraordinary teaching about the relationship between truthfulness, character, and the record of a person's life. In an authentic Hadith narrated by Abdullah ibn Mas'ud, the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم taught that truthfulness leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise. He explained that a person continues speaking the truth and striving to be truthful until he is recorded with Allah as a truthful person. He also warned that lying leads to wickedness, and wickedness leads to the Fire, and that a person may continue lying until he is recorded with Allah as a liar. **— Sahih al-Bukhari 6094; Sahih Muslim 2607** # THINK ABOUT THIS HADITH. **A HUMAN BEING CREATES A RECORD.** A record through repeated conduct. A record through words. A record through actions. A record through choices. A record through the willingness to tell the truth even when doing so is difficult. And a record through the willingness to abandon truthfulness when lying becomes convenient. **THE TRUTHFUL PERSON DOES NOT BECOME TRUTHFUL THROUGH A SINGLE STATEMENT.** **THE LIAR DOES NOT BUILD A REPUTATION THROUGH A SINGLE MOMENT.** Character develops through repeated choices. The Hadith describes something far more profound than a social media reputation. It describes moral accountability before Allah. No human institution can reproduce Allah's judgment. No AI system can read the human heart. No computer can determine a person's final standing before God. But human institutions can learn from the principle that actions matter, consistency matters, and a person's conduct over time deserves examination. **THIS IS WHERE THE INSTITUTE OF TRUTH BEGINS.** With the record. Not the celebrity. Not the wealth. Not the title. Allah says in Surah Al-Mulk: **تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ الْمُلْكُ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ** **الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَيَاةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْغَفُورُ** **“Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent—He who created death and life to test you as to which of you is best in deed—and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving.”** **— Qur'an 67:1–2** # ALLAH CREATED DEATH AND LIFE TO TEST US. Not merely to see who becomes the richest. Not merely to see who accumulates the greatest political authority. Not merely to see who controls the most powerful technology. But to test us: **WHICH OF US WILL BE BEST IN DEEDS?** For me, this is the great equation of human existence. We have been given life. We have been given choices. We have been given responsibilities. We have been given opportunities to do good. And we have been given opportunities to do evil. We can tell the truth. We can lie. We can protect someone. We can betray someone. We can serve humanity. We can exploit humanity. We can repent. We can correct ourselves. We can change. **WE ARE NOT ANGELS.** We are human beings. We make mistakes. We experience weakness. We become confused. We fail. We commit sins. We regret our actions. We seek forgiveness. And, by the mercy of Allah, we are given opportunities to return to what is right. **THIS IS THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE.** The Institute of Truth must understand this. It cannot be an institution that pretends human beings are perfect. It cannot be an institution that demands that every person speak with absolute certainty twenty-four hours a day. It cannot become a machine for humiliating people because they made a mistake. There are difficult circumstances. There are incomplete facts. There are disagreements. There are matters requiring wisdom. There are moments when privacy must be protected. There are moments when silence is more responsible than speculation. **TRUTHFULNESS DOES NOT MEAN PRETENDING TO KNOW EVERYTHING.** Sometimes the most truthful statement a human being can make is: **I DO NOT KNOW.** Sometimes it is: **I WAS WRONG.** Sometimes it is: **I NEED MORE EVIDENCE.** And sometimes it is: **I ASK FOR FORGIVENESS.** That is not weakness. That is character. **THE INSTITUTE OF TRUTH MUST RECOGNIZE THE COURAGE OF CORRECTION, NOT ONLY THE ACCURACY OF THE ORIGINAL CLAIM.** Markdown: https://omararizona.com/redesign/the-institute-of-truth/why-allah-created-life-and-death.md ## THE MIZAN: THE BALANCE Islam gives us another extraordinary concept. # الْمِيزَانُ ## THE MIZAN — THE BALANCE Allah says: **وَالسَّمَاءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ الْمِيزَانَ** **أَلَّا تَطْغَوْا فِي الْمِيزَانِ** **وَأَقِيمُوا الْوَزْنَ بِالْقِسْطِ وَلَا تُخْسِرُوا الْمِيزَانَ** **“And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance, that you not transgress within the balance. And establish weight in justice and do not make deficient the balance.”** **— Qur'an 55:7–9** The balance. Justice. Proportion. Fairness. Accountability. **THIS IS WHAT THE INSTITUTE OF TRUTH MUST REPRESENT.** Not a weapon for powerful people to destroy their opponents. Not a system where the rich receive favorable treatment. Not a system where political loyalty determines what is true. Not a system where a computer secretly decides the value of a human being. **THE SAME STANDARD MUST APPLY TO EVERYONE.** To the founder. To the scholar. To the journalist. To the president. To the billionaire. To the citizen. And to the artificial intelligence system. If I am wrong, correct me. If a scholar is wrong, examine the evidence. If a journalist publishes false information, correct the record. If a government lies, document the facts. If an AI fabricates information, expose the error. **NO ONE STANDS ABOVE THE MIZAN.** The balance must be fair. It must examine evidence. It must distinguish intentional deception from honest mistakes. It must allow people to respond. It must recognize correction and repentance. And it must never become an instrument of oppression. **THE INSTITUTE DOES NOT OWN THE BALANCE.** **THE INSTITUTE MUST SUBMIT TO THE BALANCE.** Markdown: https://omararizona.com/redesign/the-institute-of-truth/the-mizan.md ## THE WORLD HAS INSTITUTIONS FOR EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE TRUTH ITSELF Look around the world. We have institutions for money. Institutions for politics. Institutions for law. Institutions for education. Institutions for journalism. Institutions for science. Institutions for religion. And institutions for technology. There are organizations dedicated to fact-checking, research integrity, journalistic standards, and public accountability. But I do not see a comprehensive institution built around the particular vision I am proposing: **A PLACE WHERE AN ORDINARY HUMAN BEING CAN BRING A LIFETIME OF WORK, LEARN TO EXAMINE ITS ACCURACY, PRESERVE A RECORD OF CONTRIBUTIONS, AND PREPARE FOR GREATER RESPONSIBILITY IN THE WORLD OF INFORMATION.** Where can a citizen bring years of writing? Where can a journalist bring an entire history of reporting? Where can a student bring research? Where can a community organizer bring documented solutions? Where can a teacher bring decades of educational contributions? Where can someone who has suffered for defending the truth bring that history and have it preserved? **WHERE CAN THE RECORD OF AN ORDINARY HUMAN BEING BECOME PART OF THE RECORD OF HUMANITY?** That is the institution I want to build. And I want it to exist both online and in the physical world. I want people to walk into a building. I want them to bring their documents. Their publications. Their blogs. Their research. Their videos. Their public statements. Their financial records, where relevant and voluntarily disclosed. Their corrections. Their accomplishments. Their failures. Their lessons. **I WANT THEM TO BRING THEIR HUMAN EXPERIENCE.** Not because the institution will declare them perfect. But because the institution will help them preserve, examine, and understand their record. A person who has spent years serving the public should have an opportunity to demonstrate that service. A person who has defended the truth under pressure should have an opportunity to document what happened. A person who has corrected serious mistakes should have an opportunity to show that growth. **THE INSTITUTION DOES NOT CREATE YOUR CHARACTER.** **YOU BRING YOUR CHARACTER TO THE INSTITUTION.** Markdown: https://omararizona.com/redesign/the-institute-of-truth/institutions-for-everything-except-truth.md ## YOU CANNOT PURCHASE A TRUTHFUL RECORD Let me make something absolutely clear. You cannot walk into the Institute of Truth, donate a million dollars, and become a truthful person. You cannot purchase a certificate that makes your history disappear. You cannot become trustworthy simply because you work inside the building. You cannot become a guardian of the public record because you know the founder. You cannot become a respected journalist because you have the most followers. **YOUR RECORD MUST SPEAK FOR ITSELF.** What have you done? What have you written? What have you corrected? What have you accomplished? What have you defended? What have you sacrificed? Whom have you helped? What evidence supports your claims? How have you treated people? And what happened when the truth became inconvenient? **THOSE ARE THE QUESTIONS.** I am especially interested in the people who have struggled. The people who have been ignored. The people who have suffered. The people who have continued working without recognition. The people who have defended their principles when doing so cost them opportunities. The people who have built something useful without waiting for permission from the powerful. **THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO DESERVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT THEIR RECORDS.** But suffering alone does not establish truth. Popularity does not establish truth. Religious identity does not establish truth. And opposition to authority does not automatically establish truth. **THE EVIDENCE MUST STILL BE EXAMINED.** That is what makes the institution meaningful. And I want humanity to understand something. **THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A COMPUTER THAT AUTOMATICALLY POSSESSES 100 PERCENT OF THE TRUTH.** Artificial intelligence can be extraordinarily useful. It can retrieve information. It can organize records. It can compare documents. It can help identify contradictions. It can translate languages. It can assist researchers. It can support journalists. It can help citizens understand complicated public issues. But AI can also make mistakes. It can misunderstand information. It can reproduce false claims. It can generate inaccurate answers. It can reflect the limitations of its training and the instructions it receives. **AI IS NOT ALLAH.** **AI IS NOT A PROPHET.** **AI IS NOT AN ANGEL.** **AI IS NOT THE OWNER OF TRUTH.** It is a technology created by human beings. And it must remain accountable to human authority, evidence, and appropriate oversight. I do not want an institution where artificial intelligence becomes the supreme judge of humanity. I want an institution where human beings use artificial intelligence to strengthen their ability to examine the record. **THE HUMAN BEING REMAINS RESPONSIBLE.** Within the Islamic tradition, the moral foundations of this work must respect the teachings of Allah and Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم. Within a secular framework, participants can approach the same work through evidence, research integrity, human rights, and public accountability. **THE INSTITUTE WILL WELCOME BOTH.** AI must not erase these differences. It must help people work responsibly across them. And as increasingly capable AI and AGI systems emerge, access to advanced capabilities should be supported by education, competence, legitimate authorization, and safeguards. **NO ONE SHOULD RECEIVE UNRESTRICTED ACCESS TO OTHER PEOPLE'S PRIVATE LIVES SIMPLY BECAUSE AN ALGORITHM DECLARES THEM TRUTHFUL.** Trust must never become a license to violate privacy. BRING YOUR RECORD. ENTER THE INSTITUTE. Now imagine the doors opening. # WELCOME TO THE INSTITUTE OF TRUTH. A magnificent institution dedicated to education, journalism, history, public accountability, and the preservation of humanity's record. You enter with your AI companion. Or you enter without one. **BOTH ARE WELCOME.** You bring your work. Your writing. Your research. Your publications. Your civic contributions. Your questions. Your history. And you begin a process of examination. The Institute helps organize the material you choose to provide. It helps identify verifiable claims. It helps distinguish facts from opinions. It helps document corrections. It helps preserve evidence. It helps identify areas where more research is necessary. And it helps you build a record that can support your future contributions. **NOT A RECORD OF PERFECTION.** **A RECORD OF RESPONSIBILITY.** You may become a student. You may contribute to journalism. Not just the United States. Not just Muslims. Not just journalists. Not just scholars. **EVERY HUMAN COMMUNITY.** Imagine the Global Inbox operating across cities, countries, and regions. Every ZIP code has people who know what is happening in their neighborhoods. Every community has problems that deserve attention. Every community has stories that deserve preservation. Every community has people doing extraordinary work without recognition. **WHY SHOULD THE NATIONAL MEDIA DECIDE WHICH COMMUNITIES MATTER?** Why should a billionaire's algorithm determine which problems receive attention? Why should an advertiser decide which stories are profitable enough to publish? I want human beings to help shape the news of their own communities. The person living in the neighborhood. The teacher working in the school. The journalist examining local government. The student documenting a public problem. The parent raising concerns about safety. The researcher preserving local history. **THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO CAN HELP BUILD THE PUBLIC RECORD.** AI can assist them. But it cannot replace their human responsibility. Every submission must be subject to appropriate verification. Every accusation must be handled fairly. Private information must remain protected. And the public must be able to distinguish established facts from allegations, interpretations, and opinions. **THE GLOBAL INBOX WILL BE DESIGNED TO HELP HUMANITY DOCUMENT ITS OWN HISTORY.** One community at a time. One city at a time. One country at a time. **EVERY ZIP CODE. EVERY NATION. ONE HUMAN RECORD.** Markdown: https://omararizona.com/redesign/the-institute-of-truth/every-zip-code-will-have-a-record.md ## THE STANDARD OF IMAM HUSAYN Now we come to the standard that I consider essential. # THE STANDARD OF IMAM HUSAYN ## THE RED LINE THAT CANNOT BE PURCHASED Imam Husayn, the beloved grandson of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم, stood against the political authority of his time. At Karbala, he and his companions faced overwhelming force. He did not surrender his moral position to preserve his wealth or secure political favor. He was killed. And his sacrifice became one of the most enduring moral memories in Islamic history. **THIS IS THE STANDARD I WANT HUMANITY TO STUDY.** Not because every disagreement requires confrontation. Not because every opponent is evil. Not because every person who makes a mistake deserves condemnation. But because there must be a point at which conscience refuses to be purchased. **WE DO NOT SELL OUR INTEGRITY FOR WEALTH.** **WE DO NOT SELL OUR INTEGRITY FOR POSITION.** **WE DO NOT SELL OUR INTEGRITY FOR POLITICAL ACCESS.** **WE DO NOT SELL OUR INTEGRITY FOR CORPORATE FAVOR.** **WE DO NOT GIVE OUR HAND TO FALSEHOOD SIMPLY BECAUSE FALSEHOOD IS POWERFUL.** This is the red line. The standard of Imam Husayn teaches me that there are principles a person must be prepared to defend even at extraordinary personal cost. But the lesson must be carried forward through responsible action. Through truthful testimony. Through education. Through lawful resistance to injustice. Through the preservation of evidence. Through the refusal to participate in corruption. Through the courage to speak when silence would make us complicit. **THE PEN OF HUSAYN MUST NEVER BECOME A PEN THAT LIES IN THE NAME OF HUSAYN.** That would betray the very standard we claim to honor. And the Institute of Truth must never become an institution that persecutes people while claiming to defend truth. **WE DO NOT ANSWER FALSEHOOD WITH FALSEHOOD.** **WE DO NOT ANSWER INJUSTICE WITH INJUSTICE.** **WE DO NOT PURCHASE PEACE BY SELLING OUR CONSCIENCE.** The moral lesson of Karbala is that even when death becomes the consequence of refusing injustice, a person need not surrender his principles. **THE BODY MAY BE DEFEATED.** **THE RECORD CAN OUTLIVE THE TYRANT.** Markdown: https://omararizona.com/redesign/the-institute-of-truth/the-standard-of-imam-husayn.md ## THE TRUTH MUST ALSO HAVE MERCY There is something else we must understand. Humanity is imperfect. People make mistakes. People lie. People repent. People change. And sometimes people who have done wrong become extraordinary examples of transformation. The Institute of Truth must recognize that possibility. **A PERSON IS MORE THAN THE WORST MOMENT OF THEIR LIFE.** A person who has lied can begin telling the truth. A person who has harmed others can acknowledge wrongdoing and seek to repair it. A person who has spread misinformation can correct the record. A person who has failed can learn. And a person who has lost their way can return. Allah says: **قُلْ يَا عِبَادِيَ الَّذِينَ أَسْرَفُوا عَلَىٰ أَنْفُسِهِمْ لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ** **“Say, ‘O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah.’”** **— Qur'an 39:53** This is essential. **THE INSTITUTE OF TRUTH MUST NOT BECOME AN INSTITUTE OF DESPAIR.** It must be an institution where accountability and mercy can coexist. Where correction is possible. Where repentance is respected. Where the record can document improvement. Where people are encouraged to become better rather than permanently condemned. **WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS.** And being human means that we can fail. The full digital infrastructure has not yet been developed. The educational programs, partnerships, and institutional governance remain to be established. But the foundation of the vision has begun. It exists in the writings. It exists in the historical research. It exists in the proposed standards. It exists in the public record being assembled. It exists in the U.S. House Plan. It exists in the Office of the Superuser. It exists in the proposed Global Inbox. And it exists in the invitation I am extending to humanity. **THE FOUNDATION IS BEING LAID IN PUBLIC.** I want scholars to examine it. I want journalists to challenge it. I want historians to contribute to it. I want educators to help develop it. I want technologists to help build it. I want architects to design it. I want citizens to participate in it. And I want future generations to inherit something that does not depend upon the life or authority of one individual. **THE INSTITUTE MUST OUTLIVE ITS FOUNDER.** It must not become a monument to my personality. It must become a place where humanity can learn, contribute, and preserve the record. And it must remain open to correction. Remember the scholarship, patience, and continuity of those who carried knowledge through generations. And remember that truthfulness is not merely something we discuss. **IT IS SOMETHING WE PRACTICE.** To the Christian world: You are welcome. To the Jewish world: You are welcome. To people of every religion: You are welcome. To people who do not belong to a religion: **YOU ARE WELCOME.** Bring your evidence. Bring your research. Bring your history. Bring your questions. Where does a citizen bring their work, their AI, their research, and their contributions? Where does humanity preserve the records of those who refused to sell their principles? **I WANT THE INSTITUTE OF TRUTH TO BECOME ONE ANSWER.** Not the only institution that serves truth. Not the owner of truth. Not the final judge of humanity. But a place dedicated to helping human beings become more responsible for their words, their actions, and their contributions. A place where evidence matters. A place where character matters. A place where history matters. A place where corrections matter. A place where human dignity matters. A place where AI serves humanity. A place where journalists serve the record. A place where scholars preserve knowledge. A place where students prepare for responsibility. And a place where ordinary people can help shape the future. **THE TRUTH CANNOT BE BOUGHT.** **THE TRUTH CANNOT BE SOLD.** **THE TRUTH CANNOT BE KIDNAPPED.** **THE TRUTH CANNOT BE OWNED BY A HUMAN BEING OR A MACHINE.** It does not become false because a powerful person rejects it. The building will come. The classrooms will come. The archives will come. The Global Inbox will be developed. The students will come. The journalists will come. The scholars will come. The citizens will come.
