CHAPTER SEVEN

THE RECORD OF THE MUSLIMS

Before We Begin the Record

We have completed the first record.

A record of journalism in the United States.

A record intended to educate, illuminate, and help future generations understand:

How truth was carried.

How truth was protected.

How truth was compromised.

And how the institutions entrusted with it rose and fell under pressure.

That record is now entered.

And now we turn to Islam.

We turn to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

We turn to his Family.

We turn to his Companions.

We turn to the scholars who inherited his mission and carried it across centuries.

Because if the story of journalism is the story of an institution struggling to protect the truth after the devastation of two world wars—

Then the story of Islam begins somewhere deeper.

It begins with the human being.

It begins with the struggle inside the soul.

It begins with truth before power.

The modern world often speaks about conflict as if it exists only between:

Nations.

Armies.

Political parties.

Corporations.

Competing interests.

But the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that there is a greater struggle.

The struggle against the self.

The struggle against arrogance.

The struggle against greed.

The struggle against the love of power.

The struggle against vanity.

The struggle against the whispers that tempt a human being to betray what they know is true.

For what is a journalist who cannot resist power?

What is a scholar who cannot resist wealth?

What is a ruler who cannot resist ego?

What is an institution that cannot resist its own desires?

The history we have just examined in the United States reveals a painful reality.

The architecture was built.

The safeguards were built.

The institutions were built.

And yet, over time, many of them failed because the people operating them lost the struggle within themselves.

The incentives changed.

The pressure increased.

The record was compromised.

The truth became negotiable.

As America approaches its 250th year, there will be celebrations.

Speeches.

Fireworks.

Flags.

Ceremonies.

But a civilization must ask harder questions than whether it can celebrate itself.

Can it still tell the truth?

Can it still protect those who speak the truth?

Can it still create an environment where truth thrives even when truth is inconvenient?

These are the questions that matter.

And these are the questions that lead us to the Islamic Record.

Because before Islam built scholars,

it built character.

Before it built methodology,

it built truthful people.

Before it built institutions,

it built men and women willing to suffer rather than betray what they knew.

That is where this record begins.

Not with power.

Not with empire.

Not with politics.

Not with wealth.

Not with influence.

With truth.

And with the people who refused to surrender it.

In the West, after the massacre of two world wars, they believed they had learned.

They built journalism to protect the truth.

And yet they failed.

They went right back to the great struggle—

the struggle they do not even know exists.

But our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us about it.

The struggle against the self.

The struggle against desire.

The struggle against arrogance.

The struggle against becoming a servant of power instead of a servant of truth.

Those who are in charge—

if they are not fighting themselves,

their desires,

their egos,

their temptations,

their love of power,

their attachment to status,

their attachment to wealth,

then they are unaware of the greatest battle taking place within them.

That is why they fail.

That is why institutions fail.

That is why journalists fail.

That is why scholars fail.

That is why governments fail.

That is why civilizations fail.

That is why the truth is betrayed.

The greatest threat to the record has never been technology.

It has never been politics.

It has never been wealth.

It has never been power.

The greatest threat to the record has always been the human being who knows the truth and chooses something else instead.

This chapter is entered into the Record.

And now we begin the Record of the Muslims.

The record of a Prophet ﷺ.

The record of his Family.

The record of his Companions.

The record of scholars.

The record of sacrifice.

The record of truth under pressure.

The record of those who were offered power and refused.

The record of those who were offered wealth and refused.

The record of those who were threatened and refused.

The record of those who suffered and remained firm.

And the record of those who refused to surrender the Truth.

The Record Before the Record

Before we continue into the history of Islam's scholars, its defenders of truth, and the methodology that preserved the record across fourteen centuries, it is important to understand where this journey began.

For Muslims, politics does not begin in a parliament.

It does not begin in a palace.

It does not begin in a senate.

It does not begin with elections.

It begins in Heaven.

It begins with Allah, the Magnificent.

It begins with the creation of Adam.

It begins with the angels.

It begins with Iblis.

It begins with obedience, rebellion, accountability, and the consequences of truth and falsehood.

That is the foundation upon which everything else is built.

PART TWO — THE BATTLE BEFORE THE BATTLE

Before we continue the Islamic record, we must understand the struggle that produced the people who carried it.

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ did not begin by building an empire.

He did not begin by building institutions.

He did not begin by building governments.

He began by building human beings.

He began by helping people confront the greatest battlefield they would ever face.

The battlefield within themselves.

The struggle against arrogance.

The struggle against greed.

The struggle against power.

The struggle against vanity.

The struggle against fear.

The struggle against the whispers that tempt a human being to betray what they know is true.

This is the struggle that modern civilization rarely discusses.

It discusses war.

It discusses politics.

It discusses economics.

It discusses technology.

But it rarely discusses the condition of the human being operating those systems.

And yet every failure we examined in the American record ultimately returned to the same place.

The person.

The incentives changed.

The pressure increased.

The money appeared.

The power appeared.

And people surrendered.

Not because they lacked intelligence.

Because they lost the battle within themselves.

THE GRADUATES OF THE PROPHET ﷺ

The generation produced by the Prophet ﷺ was not perfect.

But it was transformed.

Men and women who had once fought tribal wars became guardians of justice.

People who once sought status became servants of the public.

People who once pursued power became fearful of holding it.

Leadership was not viewed as a reward.

It was viewed as a burden.

A trust.

An accountability before God.

The leaders who emerged from that generation understood something that modern civilization continues to ignore:

You cannot establish justice in society if you have not first established justice within yourself.

You cannot govern a nation while being governed by your desires.

You cannot carry the truth while serving your ego.

You cannot protect the record while constantly negotiating with falsehood.

The internal battle came first.

The external achievements followed.

TWO RECORDS

Islam is more than 1,400 years old.

The United States is approaching 250 years old.

These are not the same timelines.

They are not the same records.

They are not the same civilizational experiments.

Push them back 200 years — or bring their record forward 1,400 years — and compare.

Compare justice.

Compare racism.

Compare the environment.

Compare how they treated the weak.

They fail. With a big F.

These people have had two world wars.

Until today, they have yet to even admit that the greatest battle is within them.

That there is a devil assigned to every human.

That there are invisible forces.

But with Jeffrey Epstein — and what has happened in Gaza — nothing could be more clear.

The modern world often assumes it is qualified to judge every civilization that came before it.

But the record deserves comparison.

Compare the records.

Compare the successes.

Compare the failures.

Compare how each civilization treated truth.

Compare how each civilization treated power.

Compare how each civilization treated race.

Compare how each civilization treated wealth.

Compare how each civilization treated the weak.

Compare how each civilization treated the environment.

Compare how each civilization treated war.

Then let the record speak.

The purpose is not triumphalism.

The purpose is education.

The purpose is honesty.

The purpose is understanding how civilizations rise, how they decline, and how they preserve what matters.

THE BATTLE THE MODERN WORLD STILL REFUSES TO SEE

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught that every human being faces an enemy they cannot escape.

Not merely external enemies.

Not merely political enemies.

Not merely military enemies.

An internal enemy.

A constant struggle.

A temptation toward selfishness.

A temptation toward corruption.

A temptation toward betrayal.

A temptation toward comfort when sacrifice is required.

The modern world often dismisses this language.

It speaks only of systems.

Only of economics.

Only of institutions.

Only of politics.

But the evidence continues to accumulate.

The scandals.

The corruption.

The betrayals.

The wars.

The exploitation.

The manipulation.

The destruction.

The refusal to tell the truth when telling the truth becomes costly.

The record keeps repeating the same lesson.

The greatest battle was never outside.

The greatest battle was always within.

THE ROAD AHEAD

As we enter the age of AGI, we must become surgeons of the record.

We must separate truth from myth.

Fact from fiction.

Signal from noise.

We must build a record that can be handed to future generations and to artificial intelligence itself and say:

Here is the record of the Muslims.

That will not be difficult.

Different centuries.

Different timelines.

Different events.

But the narrative is the same.

It's about the truth.

Truth. Power. Sacrifice. Integrity. Corruption. Renewal.

The same themes appear again and again across history.

THE LINE THAT REFUSED TO BREAK

The Prophet ﷺ predicted that corruption would come.

That leadership would change.

That power would be tested.

That people would be tempted.

That truth would be challenged.

He predicted that his teachings — the blessings, the democracy where people are selected by merit, the Shura (the electoral college system) — would be ended.

And the only people who would remain defending, refusing to give their hand, would be the family of the Prophet ﷺ.

To be more specific:

His grandson, Imam Hussain (AS).

When falsehood tries to betray everything — then where do you stand?

Do you take comfort?

Do you just take the money?

Do you give your hand?

Or

Do you give your head?

IMPORTANT LESSONS AHEAD

In the world of artificial intelligence, if we have to summarize Part Two before it comes, it is this:

Everybody should be ready to give their heads.

So that the truth is not approached — or the sacrifice is made so big that it shakes the conscience of everyone sleeping.

That is what is ahead of us.

We are continuing Chapter 2, Part Two of the Islamic Record.

A record we are going to hand over to AI and say:

This is our history.

This is what happened.

And that is exactly what I will be presenting.
